Singer-songwriter Matthew Griswold began a professional music career in 2009, after serving a demanding 5 year enlistment as a US Army Military Policeman. Matthew spent time in a total of 16 different countries and did everything from NATO missions, Force Protection assignments, security escorts for Joint Chiefs of Staff, Division Generals and even a former US President. Matthew also took part in the Iraq war, fighting in what became its most violent campaign, the “Battle of Ramadi”. Closing out his enlistment contract as a Criminal Investigator out of Ft. Knox, KY, he decided that a military career was too mentally and emotionally taxing.
Following an honorable discharge, and making regular trips to Nashville to pursue his passion in songwriting, he landed a music publishing deal with Universal Music Group and has gone on to write and produce songs for film and television. He currently has over 1,000 credits to his name, and has provided songs to productions like the Netflix (#1 show) “”Sweet Magnolias”, “The Today Show”, NBC’s “New Amsterdam”, BBC’s “Copper” and even Robert Redford’s final film, “The Old Man and the Gun”.
Matthew also tours full time, performing over 200 shows a year around the country with his unique “one man band” style performances. He stays active in being an advocate for the “healing powers of Songwriting” for all who struggle with mental health conditions, and especially for fellow Veterans. He was a key note speaker in 2022 for the Veterans Affairs Mental Health Summit, and a ground breaking speaker at the American Music Therapy Association’s national convention in 2011.
